R2-D2 Aquarium

We’ve featured a fair few interesting, tasteless and bizarre aquariums here on Coolest Gadgets but this is probably the nerdiest yet (thanks Critiker), the R2-D2 Aquarium.

"Modeled after the most well-known astromech droid in the galaxy, this R2-D2 holds a 1 3/4-gallon aquarium tank in his central compartment, ideal for a small freshwater family of goldfish, gouramis, or tetras. The domed head rotates with any vocal command you issue and he utters his familiar “bleeps” from the Star Wars movies. His radar eye houses the eyepiece to a built-in periscope that provides an intimate view of the aquatic activity below, allowing you to watch your charges swim towards the food you’ve dropped in from the dome’s removable feeding door."

You can buy the R2-D2 Aquarium from Hammacher for $129.95 found via our friends over at Critiker.

Scan It Allows You to Check Out Your Own Groceries

About two years ago, we covered the Intelliscanner Personal Barcode Scanner which allows you the user to scan your own merchandise and upload them to the PC. That might be good for establishing your personal inventory in your home, but I have recently discovered the Scan It, which is good for business on the road.

Simply put, the Scan It is a barcode scanner that allows you, the customer, to self check your groceries. All you need to do is scan your merchandise, put it in the bag, and scan the “all done” bar code when you are finished.

Just think! No more waiting at the checkout line for something that you can do all by yourself. No more bagging all your groceries at the end when you can just do it as you go. You can save at least fifteen minutes on your next shopping trip, easily!

So, how soon can you get one of these? The scanners are made by Motorola, and they are not quite ready for full mass production just yet. My source had a chance to try this out, and there is a catch when using this technology. The user has to agree to a random audits, and it will keep track of what you’re doing. In other words, Big Brother is watching you shop.

Still, you got to admire the Scan It’s initiative for changing the face of grocery shopping with the use of technology. Perhaps there will come a day when a Scan It is on everyone’s cellular phone.

The inexpensive Wild Planet Mobile Spy Ear

There have been cars that give you the ability to spy on a room before, but this one is far more affordable than the other ones I’ve seen. It probably won’t be as great of quality as the ones you’re pay around $100 for. However, it also means that you can be a spy no matter what your price range. Hopefully the engine is quiet though. Nothing’s more embarrassing than getting caught spying with your toy car.

The tiny little car is meant for kids seven years old and up, however, Amazon disagrees. Amazon really thinks that we should abandon our spy fantasies by the time we’re age ten. The car has a range of 50′ and when you’re listening in, you listen through the earbud. It runs on two 9V batteries, which of course are not included. It seems that it will be decent quality, if they aren’t exaggerating. According to the manufacturer, you can listen through walls with the car. Which if is actually the case, that’s pretty cool for the price you pay for the car. You can purchase it for $14.99 on Amazon.

Bell offers Palm Treo Pro

We know that the world is abuzz with the upcoming Palm Pre, but that doesn’t mean it should overshadow news of the new Palm Treo Pro that is now available from Bell Mobility in Canada. The Joker Light features Batman style lighting

It’s always great when modern design can have a slight geeky twist. This edgy lamp may be called the Joker, but it definitely has a Batman type feel to it. Which apparently it was meant to come off that way judging from the kid sitting under the lamp with a batman mask pinned to the top of his head. It is nice that it could still look perfectly natural in any home and still remind you of your comic loving side.

Despite that the lamp looks so modern and new, it was actually created in 1970, when it won 1st prize at a Scandinavian Lighting fair. It was created by Christian Raeder and despite that he created it in 1970, it’s still worth a great deal to purchase brand new. It comes in white as well as black, black of course will appeal more to those that like the batman style look. The light is currently up for sale on Morba’s online shop for $285.

This cool latest gadgets design recalls a little bug that led to Will Smith in I, Robot, unjustly vilified by fans Asimov, albeit with a touch of Mad Max, with that gigantic propeller truncacuellos. This futuristic concept car crazy gadget, nicknamed Blade and created by Ying Hui Choo, is part of Peugeot design competition. It asked contestants to create vehicles for the “City of the Future”, whatever you’re mean that. They electronic gadget had to put special emphasis on “social harmony”, the “mobility interactive” and “environmental concerns”. Blade mejora la eficiencia con la turbina mencionada y con la batería electrica que va a bordo. Blade improving the efficiency with turbine and referred to the battery that goes on board. More designs after the jump.
This is a best gadget gift and designed by Oskar Johansen, is able to turn on itself and reduce its size to “park more easily, improve their maneuverability and increase its visibility.”
New 3-D Blue Ray technology now comes in 2010. It will come with many advantageous features. Panasonic is working on a Blu-ray Disc capable of storing 2-channel 1080p 3D pictures, along with an HDMI cable to carry the video to a suitable TV. The best thing about the proposal being made to the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) though is that Panasonic is using existing Blu-ray and HDMI technology which will help it and us avoid another dumb proprietary HD format spat.

Dane-Elec, French manufacturer of memory cards and distributor of Meizu 8, has decided to create their own PMP. The first four players of its new line have names that do not seem very descriptive names: Music Mediatouch, toquetear for music files and multimedia with the touch screen; Touch Music, the same thing but smaller; Music Pix, music and images; Music, a small MP3 player with a cord for round his neck. You can view pictures after the jump. For more details, follow the link.

The Playstation 3

The Playstation 3 is very nice looking but not very mobile

It is designed to be placed under your TV and not to be moved. Now some people have made sure that you can bring your PS3 with you to the party.

This is the Clearvision Playstation 3 LCD. It’s a small screen with speakers that are very easy to hook up to your Playstation 3. This will make your Playstation 3 unit very mobile. You can play your games on it without connecting it to a TV. You still need to plug the power cord but still this is a very cool gadget in my opinion.

There have been many requests to buy this and I have found the cheapest deal to make your Playstation 3 portable below

Asus notebook F70 and F50

Asus notebook F70 and F50
It seems Asus introduces new laptops every week. Ok, maybe not every week. But this week (not including ultra-thin laptops) the company introduced Asus F70 and Asus F50. With these laptops, Asus want to offer a better performance in its portable computers.

These Asus’ computers were not designed to be the lightest laptops in the world, because they don’t have small screens: the ASUS F70 has a 17.3-inch screen and ASUS F50 has a 16-inch screen. In spite of it, the ASUS F50 has an excellent weight/size ratio: 6.28 pounds (2.85 kg). The Asus F70, on the other hand, weighs 9 pounds (4.1 kg)

The Asus F70 uses an Intel processor and you can choose between Core 2 Duet, Pentium or Celeron. It has up to 4GB of RAM and a dual-hard drive configuration which allow users to have up to 1 TB of storage space, which is a really impressive capacity.

Also, the Asus F70 has an optic drive with Blu-ray support, and 1.3M pixels CMOS webcam (dependent on model chosen), Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth and an eight cell battery. Its screen display has a 16:9 aspect ratio and a maximum resolution of 1600 by 900 pixels.

Zippo Style Digital Cigarette Lighter Camera

Zippo Style Digital Cigarette Lighter Camera
Remember the Nightfire Game of James Bond that had an Camera built into a Cigarette Lighter? This is the same spy gadget but in the real world. The Cigarette lighter itself is not functional, but the Digital Camera built inside works like any other camera.
The Zippo Style Digital Cigarette Lighter Camera has 64 MB SDRAM memory that stores 104 images (standard 640×480 resolution) or 30 images (High 1280×960 resolution). The digital images can be easily downloaded to your computer using the USB cable. The Cool Gadget is available for $45 which is not too high for a 1.3 MP camera.

Nokia N95

To me atleast, it has always seemed that Nokia has always had the most high tech features on their phones. The N95 makes sure to keep the tradition going. Nokia has seemed to always make the best use out of the new features coming out for phones such as cameras, media players, and internet browsing, and many others.

The Nokia N95 which was announced way back last year, has finally started being sold on March 22nd. Nokia N Series phones have always been at the leading edge of technology, great for any person that needs versatility on the go, yet the drawback to the N phones is they are alot more bulky than other kinds of phones, which some people find as a big drawback but some such as myself have no problem with.

You have to admit though, that the bulk is definately worth the 5 megapixel camera with video recording, tv out for your videos, a micro SD slot for added storage, and a 3.5mm audio jack for listening to your tunes.

Nokia 888 - A new Concept Mobile

This is a new concept mobile communication device which looks funny but is a serious thingy newly released in the mobile world. A new launch by Nokia, this slim paper-like phone has a lot of features which people just used to imagine about.
The piece is designed by “Tamer Nakisci”, who has already won “The Nokia Benelux Design Awards” and now is a jury member of Apple iCan 06.

The phone is completely flexible and can be carried any where and in any form. It can be bended in any shape, or can be rolled up round the wrist, or if at all you are not comfortable with this, then you can just use the phone as a clip for your shirt. Never ever was there a concept of this kind… and is already in huge demands prior to the release of this piece.

This phone can change it’s own shape whenever you need to talk like a normal phone. Talk without words, but with emotions which can be sent and received by other Nokia 888 users.

Things like liquid battery, speech recognition, flexible touch screen, touch sensitive body cover and extremely new ones into the world of Nokia Mobiles.
The color can be changed along with the shape of the phone. What else you need? Everything is unique and new… so you will really enjoy using it… not just a mobile, but it is Fun!
